Infected cut on my leg doesn’t seem to be going away?

Ben asked:

I got a graze on my shin and knee from skidding on artificial grass, the next day I noticed it was infected so went and got some antibiotics from the pharmacist. 2 days later it was even more swollen so I went to see a doctor and he said the swelling was from the original fall (even though I told him I didn’t fall hard at all). They didn’t do a blood test or give me any intravenous antibiotics.

A scab still hasn’t formed over the worst part, and it is 5 days later and I’ve nearly finished my course of antibiotics, and it is still quite hot and red. Also I woke up with a sty on my eyelid. Could the infections be linked? Do I have cellulitis? Is it possible I have MRSA? ( I read an article correlating astroturf burns and MRSA)

Thanks for your help

Go to the emergency department of your local hospital, you will find that they have better infection control techniques.
They will irrigate and clean the area (it will hurt like a bitch) then give you oral anti-biotics.
At the same time they will take blood and tissue samples to test for MRSA etc…
Don’t leave it too long, if you want to see what happens if you leave things go to popthatzit dot com and click on the MRSA tab/link freaking gross man!
    Good luck with that mate.

Woah. That’s a bit of a worry, man.

Please, for the love of humanity and cute little baby rabbits, print off the content of this page:

And then distribute it to your entire family/school/town (if you can realistically distribute it amongst your whole town). Oh, and the police department. And try not to stay alone with family members and friends just in case the inevitable eventuates at that moment and the ones you love become the first you eat. I’ve watched a lot of grindhouse films and I’m pretty confident when I say that you’ll probably need at least one of them there to kill you themselves.

    Hope that helped. :)

Years ago, my brother popped a pimple on his leg, worked out with sweats, didn’t shower, forgot about it. Hours later his leg swelled so bad he went to the emergency room. The doctor said in 2 hours he would had lost his leg, 6 hours death from sepsis, which is bacteria in the blood. In other words, go see a different doctor and get it fixed.
